New Program(s)/Position(s) Hiring FT 40hrs wk./Nom-Exempt /$18.00-$20.00 per hr. (DOE)/Job#01-AC To develop and lead a Native American youth specific mentoring program. The Natural Mentoring Program is a culturally specific mentoring model that integrates group mentoring, one-on-one relationships, native culture and values, and a student’s existing social network. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include but not limited to: Developing a Program Plan that includes planned training workshops for volunteers, community recruitment activities and support groups. Training and screening adult and youth (peer) volunteers; matching volunteers one-to-one or small group with youth; interviewing and screening youth; providing follow-up support once each match is made; planning life skills workshops; planning and implementing a community-based activities program; coordinating the implementation of targeted services and programs (including career support services, academic support services, and youth community service opportunities), in coordination with Pomo Youth College and Career Success Project, and Tribal Communities support services. Support youth identified mentors to develop rapport with students over the course of 10 weeks with the potential to transition to formal mentoring relationships following the formal group program. Support formal mentoring relationships to engage for a minimum of one year. Regularly consulting with the Supervisor to report on the progress of the mentor program. Attend and report to the Pinoleville Pomo Nation Council on the project progress. Other duties may be assigned. Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required. Equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be adequate, candidate must provide verification of training and experience. Must have the ability to provide effective interviewing, assessment and case management skills. Must have the ability to provide effective interviewing, assessment and case management skills. Must have strong project management skills such as developing timelines, organizing and coordinating meetings, reporting progress, and managing multiple deadlines. Must have an interest in staying in the position for at least two years.
